Which Andi Lynn's products are safe for kids and infants?
Pure Elderberry Syrup (along with seasonal elderberry syrup blends):

Recommended for children ages 2 and up.

The APP does not recommend that children have honey-based foods until they reach 2 years of age. The glycerin based drops are fine for children to use.

Glycerin-based drops

Recommended for all ages including infants. Our glycerin-based drops include: Shhh…Tummy and Teething Drops, Pure Immune Active Drops, and Inhale Drops.

Bronchia Calm Syrup

Recommended for children ages 6 and up

The AAP does not recommend acting against a cough in children ages 2-6. That said, they recommend Honey in warm water with some lemon and said a spoonful of honey has the same result as OTC Cough Medicine to soothe and suppress a cough. You can always talk to your Dr before starting any new herb based product.

As an herbalist, I recommend a few tricks for little ones with a cough. A steam shower with a drop or two of Pine EO on a sponge on the shower floor will thin mucus and allow for productive coughing. A Nose Freida is an excellent little tool to extract mucus from little baby noses! You can find it here.

A Garlic Plaster or an onion plaster is a traditional herbal remedy for chest congestion. You can learn more about these from John Gallagher of Learning Herbs, and Debi Pearl from No Greater Joy Ministries.

Alcohol Based Drops

We recommend Pillow Drops for adults only, not for kids. Our other alcohol-based drops including: Propolis, Blossom, Melissa, Oregon Grape, and Cramp Bark are formulated safe for kids please see serving suggestions for kids here.

Fire Cider

The Fire Cider is safe for kids. Though they might not enjoy the taste on its own. We recommend mixing it with juice or elderberry syrup when serving to kids.

Are Andi Lynn’s products safe for pregnancy?
Yes, absolutely. All the ingredients we use in our Elderberry Syrups are perfectly safe for pregnancy, nursing, and children. There are local nurse midwives and physicians who recommend my products for their patients. We always recommend you check with your health care provider before starting a new routine.
What serving size of elderberry syrup is recommended for adults?
The recommended serving size is 1 or 2 tsps. a day for regular use. For more intensive use you can increase the serving amount up to 6 tsps. a day. The best way to take elderberry syrup for intensive use is the space out your servings throughout the day to keep your immune system active and responding.

Learn more about the benefits of daily Elderberry use in our Blog here.

What is the recommended serving for kids?
Pure Elderberry Syrup

For children ages 2 and up we recommend cutting the serving size of our Pure and Seasonal Elderberry Syrup blends by half. That would mean ½-1 tsp a day for regular use and up to 3 tsp a day for intensive use.

Bronchia Calm

For children 6-11 we recommend 1 tsp. As needed.

Glycerin Based Drops

For children under 12 we recommend 10 – 20 drops, 1-3 times a day as needed.

Alcohol Based Drops

There are two rules we generally go by when determining how much of an herbal preparation to serve to our children when it comes to alcohol based drops:

Young’s Rule – Add 12 to the child’s age. Divide the child’s age by this total. Example serving for a 4 year old: Add 12+4 = 16. Divide 16/4 = .25, or 1/4 of the adult serving.

Cowling’s Rule – Divide the number of the child’s next birthday by 24. Example: serving for a child who is 3, turning 4 would be: 4 divided by 24 = .16, or 1/6 of the adult serving.

What's the difference between elderberry syrup and elderberry drops?

The Elderberry Syrup and Elderberry Drops are both used to support your immune system. The main differences are as follows:

The syrup needs to be refrigerated while the drops do not.

The drops contain 640 mg of herb weight per serving and the syrup has 500 mg per serving.

The drops are safe for babies along with adults because they are honey free, and the syrup is safe for ages 2 and up.

What's the difference in Pure Elderberry Syrup and seasonal blends: Harvest Berry, Spring Berry and Winter Berry?
The seasonal blends are thePure Elderberry Syrup with added herbs to support your body during the season that they are available. These blends contain the same amount of elderberry per serving as our Pure syrup and are only available for a limited time.

The Spring Berry has added herbs to support sinus and respiratory. The Harvest Berry has added herbs to help your body’s resilience during the busy months in life. The Winter Berry contains herbs that have a warming and drying effect to help keep away the sniffles.

How long is the syrup good for after I have opened it?
Look for the date stamp on the outside label of the bottle or a white sticker with a date. This is the best by date. Because there are no chemical preservatives added, we cannot recommend consumption after the best by date. You can freeze the syrup to extend shelf life for personal use. That’s your call!
I forgot to put my syrup in the refrigerator for a couple days. Is it still good?
Because there are no chemical preservatives added to extend shelf life, we cannot guarantee the syrup will last till the best by date unless it has been refrigerated. Room temp will greatly reduce shelf life. Learn more about safe food handling and storage here.
Which Andi Lynn's products need to be refrigerated?
Elderberry Syrup, FIRE Raw Apple Cider Vinegar, and Bronchia Calm will need to be refrigerated after opening to preserve their freshness.
